Getting to Loul Dental Studio from nearby towns

Loul Dental Studio has one office: 1805 E Cabrillo Blvd, Suite A, Santa Barbara, CA 93108, at the east end of the waterfront where Cabrillo Boulevard meets Hot Springs Road and US-101, right at the Montecito line. There is no second location. This page is for patients who live farther out along the South Coast, in the Santa Ynez Valley or in Ventura County and want to know what the drive involves and how to make a visit worthwhile.

Who travels here, and why

Patients from the South Coast (Goleta, Carpinteria, Summerland, Hope Ranch, Mission Canyon and Isla Vista), the Santa Ynez Valley (Solvang, Santa Ynez, Los Olivos and Buellton, over San Marcos Pass) and Ventura County (Ventura, Ojai, Oxnard, Camarillo and Santa Paula, along US-101) are all within roughly an hour. The drive usually makes the most sense for care that is harder to find close to home:

  • Ceramic (zirconia) implants and guided implant placement
  • Biomimetic dentistry and mercury-free restorations
  • Full-mouth reconstruction
  • Same-day crowns designed and milled in the office
  • Veneers, bonding and whitening
  • Anxiety-free options, laser dentistry, gum grafting and ozone therapy

Routine check-ups are welcome from anywhere. For most people, though, the drive makes the most sense for treatment that happens over a few planned visits.

Approximate drive times

The times below are light-traffic estimates from published route planners, not live mapping. They are approximate and depend heavily on traffic: US-101 slows through Santa Barbara, Carpinteria and Ventura at commute hours and on summer weekends, and the two-lane CA-154 San Marcos Pass can be slow in fog, rain or weekend wine-country traffic. Check a mapping app before you leave.

Finding the office

From US-101 in either direction, take the Cabrillo Boulevard / Hot Springs Road exit at the east edge of Santa Barbara and head toward the ocean. The office is on East Cabrillo Boulevard near the east end of East Beach, a short distance from Coast Village Road. If you are unsure where to go once you are close, call (805) 565-5111 during office hours for directions.

Planning a visit from farther away

  • Say where you are driving from. When you request an appointment online or call during office hours, mention your town and ask whether the exam, imaging and treatment discussion can be grouped into one longer visit. Where that is clinically appropriate, it saves a separate trip for each step.
  • Ask about same-day crowns. Because crowns are designed and milled in the office, a crown can often be completed in one appointment instead of the traditional two. Whether that fits your tooth is decided at the exam.
  • Bring your records. Recent X-rays, any treatment plan from another office, a current medication list and the name of your previous dentist save time and often avoid repeat imaging.
  • Expect multi-visit treatments to span months. Implants usually heal for several months between placement and the final restoration, and full-mouth reconstruction is staged. Ask for a written visit plan so you can schedule each drive.
  • Arrange anxiety-free options in advance. If you choose a comfort option such as anti-anxiety medication, ask when you book whether you will need someone to drive you home.
  • Allow a buffer. If traffic puts you behind, call the office; it is easier to adjust early.

East Beach, the Andree Clark Bird Refuge and Coast Village Road are a few minutes from the office if you want to make a half day of the trip.

Frequently asked questions

Does Loul Dental Studio have an office in Goleta, Ventura or the Santa Ynez Valley?

No. We have one office, at 1805 E Cabrillo Blvd, Suite A, Santa Barbara, CA 93108. Patients from those areas drive to Santa Barbara for their visits.

How long is the drive from Ventura or Oxnard?

In light traffic, Ventura is roughly 28-35 minutes and Oxnard roughly 40-50 minutes via US-101 north. Both are approximate and depend on traffic, which is heaviest at commute hours and on summer weekends.

How long is the drive from Solvang or Santa Ynez?

Roughly 40-50 minutes via CA-154 over San Marcos Pass in light traffic. The pass is a two-lane mountain road, so allow extra time in fog, rain or weekend wine-country traffic.

Can I get several things done in one visit if I live far away?

Sometimes. Say where you are driving from when you request an appointment. Where it is clinically appropriate, the exam, imaging and treatment planning may be combined, and because same-day crowns are designed and milled in the office a crown can often be finished in a single appointment. What can be combined is decided at the exam.

What should I bring to a first appointment from out of town?

Recent X-rays, any treatment plan or quote from another office, a current medication list and the name of your previous dentist. These help us avoid repeat imaging and make the visit more productive.

What if I am running late because of traffic?

Call (805) 565-5111 during office hours as soon as you know. It is easier to adjust the schedule early than to lose the appointment.
